Wordle Postgame Report, September 12
GAMES OF SKILL AND CHANCE DEP'T.
September 12, BOOZE, 2/6
The Wordle Postgame Report is a brief analysis of a game of Wordle, the five-letter-word guessing game now owned by the New York Times. If you do not play Wordle, Indignity encourages you to please skip this item. THE JOURNEY BEGAN with BARGE and immediately went through the rapids and into clear water: green B, green E. There weren't that many ways to connect the two endpoints, especially with a BR- opening already out of play. I considered BLOKE. It would test out the BL- combination and the very important-seeming O, but it was such a corny word. I didn't want to be the person who put BLOKE forward as a Wordle answer, as if I thought it were a good one, when the game seemed so winnable. What less embarrassing word could fit? BIOME would overshoot the mark in the other direction, unsatisfyingly fancy. There had to be something else. What about doubling the O, for...BOOZE. BOOZE! Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug: green all the way to the finish. Intoxicating success.
The Wordle Postgame Report will be posted semi-regularly on the website of the Indignity newsletter, or possibly even daily if people turn out to want to read it.
