The Wordle Postgame Report is a brief analysis of at game of Wordle, the five-letter-word guessing game now owned by the New York Times. If you do not play Wordle, Indignity encourages you to please skip this item. The existence of the Wordle Postgame Report does not constitute an endorsement of playing Wordle, of not playing Wordle, or of the New York Times.
A PUZZLE THAT played like a puzzle. POUCH got nothing to start with. FLAME got a yellow A and yellow M. Where did they belong? ADMIT kept the A and M yellow, with the yellow D to boot. And...none of the other available letters felt like they belonged anywhere. DAMN-something, nope, not five letters worth of DAMNation. MADLY—nope, the L was gone. What if there were no other letters, just more of the same? MADAM. A normal enough word as a word, faintly but allowably stiff and amusing. A sneaky word for Wordle.
The Wordle Postgame Report will be posted semi-regularly on the website of the Indignity newsletter, or possibly even daily if people turn out to want to read it.
