WEATHER REVIEWS
New York City, April 2, 2023
★★★ Sun-brightened clouds were speeding eastward fast. The warmth and humidity had blown away overnight, leaving another intensely blue sky. A man walked along with his eyes on his phone while his yellow dog pointed and strained toward a squirrel fleeing along a low fence rail. The moderately chilly temperature in the phone app, consulted before grabbing the light jacket, turned out to have been for a different place altogether, and the real temperature was down in the 40s. Sun glanced off the top of the Trump hotel and came down on the opposite side of Columbus Circle. Cross-hatched sawteeth of light poked down from the grates into the dark above the subway express tracks. A house sparrow sang from the mouth of the metal cross tube anchoring the support cables for a traffic light. Where a tree stretched up to the top floors in the courtyard, into the direct sunshine, its upper branches were thick with yellow-green sex organs.
