"Black Hole Sun" simply should not be on any "best of" lists. Even if it had any redeeming qualities, they would have been ground absolutely smooth from being in crushingly heavy rotation on MTV.

My favorite album from the 90s is Yellowjackets' "Blue hats" (1997), so clearly, I'm not in Pitchfork's target audience. (Although I'm fond of Walter Becker's "11 tracks of whack" (1994), which I suppose some Pitchfork readers may have at least heard of.)
