With only slight exaggeration, one might say that anyone who buys a new BMW has more money than sense and hence deserves to be swindled. Doubtless, however, the same kind of swindle will soon be perpetrated by every other car manufacturer too, much as they all rushed to start making SUVs some years ago - their executives are herd animals devoid of conscience.
This kind of thing is a grotesque abuse of software. (By the way, I'm a professional programmer.) To avoid it, in the regrettable event that I ever have to buy another car, I'll buy a software-free "antique".
