"There was no need to present a coherent argument, or even a united front.": The crux of what nice, liberal Americans should but mostly don't grasp about what confronts them is that "conservative" Americans generally aren't genuinely interested in intellectual or moral consistency or coherence; what they're interested in is power, for themselves and their tribes, over everyone else. Arguments, for them, are just rhetorical cudgels for bludgeoning enemies. Accordingly, they continually argue in bad faith, and debating them is a waste of time. They feel no doubt about the outcome they want - broadly, a restoration of unchallenged white, male, and christianist supremacy - and they refuse to consider any information or reasoning that conflicts with pursuing it.

Ultimately, they mean to rule and to destroy everyone who resists them. Nice, liberal Americans who imagine otherwise are indulging in wishful thinking of a kind apt to prove fatal.

If lying under oath isn’t sufficient grounds for impeaching Alito and Thomas, maybe their incoherent rulings are enough indication of dementia to prompt their removal. (Perjury will still suffice for Kavanaugh, Barrett and Gorsuch.)
